Over 30 years ago, Dr. Wallace founded Wallace Eye Associates to provide the people of Central Louisiana access to the latest breakthroughs in cataract and refractive care. Many of the most important innovations in cataract and refractive surgery were developed and refined at Wallace Eye Associates.
Teaching has been a hallmark of Dr. Wallace’s practice. He has participated in meetings across the globe; including presenting lectures in China, India and Scotland. Dr. Wallace also has worked to help train the next generation of eye surgeons – he has the rare distinction of serving as a Clinical Professor at both Tulane University Medical School and Louisiana State University (LSU) Medical School. In 2001, Dr. Wallace created and edited a textbook on cataract surgery titled “Refractive Cataract Surgery and Multifocal IOLs”. Considered a key opinion leader in ophthalmology, Dr. Wallace has served on the editorial board of many eye care publications and published numerous articles in medical journals.
At the 2018 international meeting of the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), which drew 20,000 attendees, Dr. Wallace was recognized as a “Special Honored Guest”. Dr. Wallace was the only surgeon from the United States to be honored with this recognition – essentially a lifetime achievement award for his significant contribution to the field of eye surgery.
